The 26th annual ANZORS (Australian & New Zealand Orthopaedic Society) Conference has been held online, from 5 to 8 October 2021.

COVID-19 update: Due to COVID-19 and related restrictions, the ANZORS executive decided that it is in the best interest of ANZORS, of the annual ANZORS conference and of the ANZORS members, to hold the 2021 ANZORS conference online.

Wednesday 06 -Friday 08 October 2021

Location:
Online conference platform (JT Production Management).

Confirmed International Keynote Speakers

  • Prof Farshid Guilak, Past ORS President; Editor-in-Chief, Journal of Biomechanics; Assoc. Editor, Osteoarthritis & Cartilage; Professor, Dept. of Orthopaedic Surgery, Washington University, USA; Director of Research, Shriners Hospitals for Children - St. Louis; Co-director, Washington University Center of Regenerative Medicine.
    Key research areas: Multidisciplinary approaches to investigate the etiology and pathogenesis of osteoarthritis.
  • Assoc Prof Claire E Clarkin, Developmental and Skeletal Biology, University of Southampton, UK; Leader, Developmental Biology Theme, Biological Sciences, Faculty of Environmental and Life Sciences; Centre for Human Development, Stem Cells and Regeneration (Medicine).
    Key research areas: The musculoskeletal system and how with age, unhealthy blood vessels can influence progression of degenerative bone diseases; targeting the blood supply to improve fracture repair outcomes and orthopaedic implant longevity.

Confirmed National Keynote Speakers

  • Dr Ju Zhang, Auckland (PhD Bioeng, 2013), New Zealand. As the founder of FormusLab, Dr Zhang will talk at the Early investigator event about his entrepreneurial post-PhD journey in the field of orthopaedic research.
  • Dr Sheanna Maine, Griffith University, Brisbane, Pediatric Orthopedic Surgeon. Hip and knee pathologies, with a focus on paediatric lower limb deformity & reconstruction.
  • Prof Saman Halgamuge, The University of Melbourne, FIEEE, Optimization & Pattern Recognition Research Group, Dept. of Mechanical Engineering. "21st Century Artificial Intelligence" and its potential in biomedical research.
