Dr John Costi
Location: Room 456 Engineering Building Qualifications: Major research interests are to understand the multiscale (nano, micro, macro), complex mechanical behaviour and failure mechanisms of the discs and mechanisms of spine disc degeneration, injury and biomechanics, knee ligament reconstruction, soft tissue and bone mechanics and hip implant micromotion. Topic co-ordinator/lecturer: Biomechanics, Mechanics and Structures, Mechanics of Machines Student supervision: Four PhD students, three masters students, four honours students and has examined two PhD theses. Chief Investigator on one NHMRC Project Grant and was associate investigator on three NHMRC Project/Development grants. NHMRC external assessor. Senior Lecturer (adjunct status): School of Mechanical Engineering, The University of Adelaide Membership: Journal Reviewer: Journal of Biomechanics, Journal of Orthopaedic Research and Spine. He has presently co-authored one book chapter and 17 articles, and has delivered over 70 papers both nationally and internationally on a wide range of biomechanical topics.
