Major research interests are to understand the multiscale (nano, micro, macro), complex mechanical behaviour and failure mechanisms of the discs and mechanisms of spine disc degeneration, injury and biomechanics, knee ligament reconstruction, soft tissue and bone mechanics and hip implant micromotion.

Topic co-ordinator/lecturer: Biomechanics, Mechanics and Structures, Mechanics of Machines

Student supervision: Four PhD students, three masters students, four honours students and has examined two PhD theses.

Chief Investigator on one NHMRC Project Grant and was associate investigator on three NHMRC Project/Development grants. NHMRC external assessor.
